3. WHY SCIENCE NEEDS TO BE TAUGHT AS IT IS DONE AND NOT AS IT IS WRITTEN IN THE BOOKS?
Science was always a multidisciplinary subject which was divided into subjects for convenience but never to loose its connectivity with other subjects. As subjects became domains and their followers drifted apart, science lost its cohesiveness and therefore became a difficult subject to follow even for the scientist.
It was, however, a serendipitous event which led science to be accidentally reduced to 150 concepts and skills, see:http://www.iibbt.com/storyhowscience.htm
Knowing, learning and teaching these skills and concepts can make science both a fun and a fulfilling subject once again not only bringing more students into science but also cutting cost of a subject generally regarded as an expensive subject to teach and therefore gets cut, especially its lab portion, due to funding constraints.
